Columbus State University’s Honors Program is organizing a fairly affordable Earth & Space Sciences study trip that tours geological areas of interest, including Niagara Falls, Great Lakes, and Smoky Mountains. The field trip fee is $875 in addition to tuition and fees. Students may choose to take honors versions of introductory geology, astronomy, and communications. In the past, students from other USG institutions have joined him, and they are opening it to any of our interested students. Transportation is by van, and accommodations are at camp sites.

Let me know if you are interested in participating. The deadline is May 12th.

Have a great week, and, as always, let me know if there is anything I can do to help you in your honors path.

Exciting Opportunity

Good evening, honors students.

I wanted to let you know about an exciting opportunity available at SPSU on Friday, April 4. Please read below for more information:

The SPSU Leadership Endorsement Academic Program and SPSU Student Life are pleased to announce the 2nd annual SPSU Student Leadership Conference on Friday, April 4, 2014. The conference is a celebration of undergraduate scholarship in all aspects of student leadership. This year’s theme is “Defining Leadership in a Sea of Change.”

The conference will take place in the SPSU Student Center from 9:00AM-3:00PM. There will be student-led presentations on leadership, round-table discussions, and a keynote speaker. The conference is free to attend, and lunch will be provided for all presenters.

GHC students encouraged to submit presentations to this year’s conference. SPSU welcomes submissions in the following formats: papers written as part of a classroom assignment, panels developed by small groups of students, photography/art and video submissions. The conference offers students a chance to think critically about what it means to be a student leader and the impact student leaders can have on others during times of change. Students from all academic disciplines are encouraged to apply and attend the conference.

Proposal submissions must be submitted by March 28th.

Conference submission forms are located here: https://orgsync.com/50292/forms/100779.
